International News:  The International Saudi Falcon and Hunting Exhibition 2025 was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. For the first time, a separate zone was created for Mongolian falcons. During the event, one falcon’s price shot up to 650,000 Saudi riyals. In Indian currency, this equals almost ₹1.5 crore. This record-breaking sale became the main highlight of the exhibition and drew attention worldwide.

Two falcons sold at auction

A total of two Mongolian falcons were sold at the historic auction. The first bird was a young falcon. Its bidding started at 70,000 riyals, but it was finally sold for 128,000 riyals. The second was an adult falcon. Its bidding began at 100,000 riyals but climbed rapidly before closing at 650,000 riyals. This adult falcon is now known as the most expensive Mongolian falcon ever sold.

Why Mongolian falcons are special

Mongolian falcons are valued for their unique qualities. They are large in size and have long, powerful wings. Their body colors vary from white to deep brown. These falcons can fly and hunt even in harsh climates. They are quick learners when trained. Because of these qualities, they are popular among both professional hunters and falconry enthusiasts. Their endurance and adaptability set them apart from other falcon species.

Hunting and tradition in Arabia

In Arab countries, falcons are not just birds—they are part of heritage. They are trained to catch rabbits, pheasants, pigeons, and even other flying prey. Falconry has been practiced in Arab culture for centuries. It is more than just hunting; it is a symbol of pride and status. Owning a rare and powerful falcon is considered a mark of wealth and honor in the region.

Competitions and falconry events

Apart from hunting, falcon competitions are also organized. These events judge falcons based on their beauty, flying strength, and training skills. Enthusiasts from many countries participate in such contests. The Saudi exhibition itself attracts people from across the world. These falconry contests are not only cultural festivals but also a way to preserve centuries-old traditions. They showcase the deep emotional connection between Arabs and their falcons.

Mongolia’s unique connection

Mongolian falcons belong to one of the most powerful species found in East Asia. Their strength and ability to survive in extreme climates make them stand out. The fact that Saudi Arabia created a special zone for them this year shows their rising importance. These birds are highly respected and are often reserved for elite buyers. Their presence at the auction added international prestige to the event.

A symbol of wealth and power

Owning a falcon is considered a matter of pride in Saudi Arabia and across the Arab world. The higher the price of the falcon, the greater the status of its owner. That is why people are willing to spend crores of rupees on these birds. The record-breaking sale of this Mongolian falcon once again proved that falconry remains deeply rooted in Arab identity. It is not just about money but also about tradition and cultural pride.
